Change of Command
Flight Lieutenant Alistair Bibby RAFVR(T) today handed over command to Flying Officer Michael Falconer RAFVR(T).
On Thursday 6th January 2004 Flight Lieutenant Alistair Bibby RAFVR(T) handed over command of 1701 (Johnstone) Squadron Air Training Corps to Flying Officer Michael Falconer RAFVR(T). Alistair has been a member of Johnstone Squadron for over 18 years, starting off as a Civilian Instructor in September 1986. He was commissioned in January 1992 and assumed command of the squadron in January 2001.

On his last night Alistair conducted a final inspection of the cadets, who then presented him with a print, signed by the cadets, of a Grob Tutor T.1 flown by 4 AEF (Air Experience Flight) from Glasgow Airport. The Tutor is the type of aircraft flown by cadets who undertake Air Experience Flying. Alistair had also been presented with an engraved crystal decanter and matching glasses during the squadrons annual presentation night held on the 16th Decemeber at the Bird in the Hand Hotel.

Alistair, a BT engineer, said ‘I have enjoyed my years with the squadron immensely, and will certainly miss it. You get lots of satisfaction when you meet an ex-cadet who comes up to you and thanks you for helping them get where they are now. I’m sure the squadron will continue to do well, and wish Michael and all the staff and cadets all the best for the future.’
