Gliding at 661 VGS

A days gliding in the Viking glider.

Today 6 cadets went gliding at 661 volounteer Gliding Squadron, RAF Kirknewton. An early start saw CPL's Balden and Thomson, CDT's Halbert, Gordon, Stevenson and Johnstone pile into the cars and head over to Kirknewton. Although it was very, very cold and windy the Duty Instructor gave the go ahead and the gliding started. For some this was their first time gliding and they enjoyed it very much, commmenting on the silence in comparison to powered flying. Cadet Gordon, who had been gliding before managed to complete his GIC 2, as did Cadet Marshall, well done to you both! Despite the bitter temperatures everyone had a great day, even CWO Gralko and Flt Lt Falconer were given a launch.

Watch this space for the next gliding slot and be sure to get your name on the list...

Thanks to the staff and cadets of 661 VGS for their hardwork on the day.
