Cadet Sergeant Michael Love has been selected as the Lord Lieutenants Cadet for Renfrewshire.

Lord Lieutenants Cadet for Renfrewshire

On Monday 1st September 2008 Cadet Sergeant Michael Love (17) from Kilbarchan was appointed as the Lord Lieutenants Cadet for Renfrewshire. The Lord Lieutenant, Mr. Guy Clark, visited 1701 (Johnstone) Squadron, Air Training Corps, to present Michael with his parchment and Lord Lieutenants badge.

The appointment reflects the high standards and achievements Sergeant Love has set over the past 4 years as a member of the local air cadet unit. In the past year he has passed a week long leadership course held at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire, and also completed a Gliding Scholarship, earning his gold wings by completing a number of solo flights. He is also a gold Duke of Edinburgh’s award holder. Sergeant Love hopes to join the RAF when he completes university, and hopes to be awarded a flying scholarship from the Air Training Corps to help him reach his goal of becoming an RAF pilot.

Each year the Lord Lieutenant may appoint a cadet from each of the cadet forces to attend him on official engagements. In his role as Lord Lieutenants Cadet Sergeant Love will have the opportunity to escort the Lord Lieutenant on his duties, and hopes to meet some royal family members when they visit Renfrewshire in the course of the next year.
